Chapter Three, The Secret Weapon, brings up a topic we find ourselves discussing in the shop regularly; your underwear can set the tone for the day.  Here are a few of our favorite quotes from different French women in this Chapter:

Mad about Fortnight

 

Since 2007, Mad Men has been reminding us how stylish the women of the 1960s were.  Although we won't take those silly little men thinking they run the world anymore- we'll take the hair, jewelry, clothes, and or course THE LINGERIE!  Happy Season Six!

 

 

 Here our a few of our favorite vintage inspired pieces from Fortnight modeled by one of lovely Bellefleur models. This stunning bralet and panty set currently comes in pink, mint, black, and peach- LOVE!  This must have over lace black slip will surely get their heads turning.

Bellefleur Lingerie Book Club: All You Need to Be Impossibly French by Helena Frith Powell. Discussion One

Welcome to the Bellefleur Book Club!  With every book, we'd like to post a few thoughts and questions we have been contemplating here at the shop.  Please share your own thoughts and feelings on this forum.  Each book will span over a two months and over the course of those two we will post 4 discussion questions.  So here we go....

In Chapter Two, Zen Exercise, the topic of exercise is raised.  In several cases the idea is implemented that American women exercise and French women move.  Here is a bit from Sylvie, one of Helena's French friends from Montpellier:

"I just move," she tells me. "If it's a choice between stairs and life, I take the stairs. I get up earlier in the morning so I can cycle to work instead of driving. Moving is part of my everyday life."

Several women in the book say that their idea of exercise includes chasing after their children, cycling, shopping, and even sex. Is this "physical culture" the secret to why most French women stay so  fit and slim? Maybe so.

Feeling adventurous? We challenge each of you to do everything on our March to-do list! Perhaps your adventurous spirit will lead you somewhere thrilling...

1.  Hide your sweats for the rest of the month.  When you are at home you can only wear lace or silk.  This can be a robe, a chemise, or even a set. No pajamas....

 

 

2.  No wearing or buying a flesh colored bra for the rest of March. Explore the world of color in your closet.  If you don't own anything but a flesh colored bra- it's time to get that bright red or teal set you've been secretly wanting...

 

3.  Only Natural light and candlelight in your bedroom for the rest of the month.  Unplug those lamps and turn your boudoir into a romantic haven....don't forget to blow out the candles before you go to sleep...

 

4.  When we wear thigh highs, we often grab black without thinking.  However, nude stockings are so sexy!  Make it a point to wear a pair this month with your favorite garter belt and spring dress....

 

 

5.  Wear a sexy bustier with a high waisted skirt and blazer/or cardigan on your next date night or night out with the girls....

 

6.  Trade your usual croissant or morning muffin for a macaroon...

We are so excited to share photos from our recent buying trip to CURVE in Vegas!  Here at the shop, we pride ourselves on bringing the best to you!  At the trade shows we get the chance to see the product in person, touch it, try it on and make sure it has the best possible fit.  We have so many excited styles and designers to show you for the upcoming seasons- stay tuned!....

At the Cosabella booth, we loved their display!

 

Inside the show, there are many booths set up with all vendors and their Fall/Winter lines.  Most of the booths have models so we can see how the fit is on.

 

Treats for the buyers.  Lingerie, cheese, and wine!! Oui, s'il vous plaît!
