How to Wear Lingerie as Outerwear

Customers often ask me how they can wear the sexy numbers they buy for the bedroom out in public. It is easy to liven up any outfit with some intimate apparel.

Wearing a corset or bustier in place of a fancy top or blouse is a surefire attention getter. Wear them over pencil skirts to cocktail parties, or over jeans while clubbing. Look sophisticated by pairing a simple black corset or waist cincher over a French-cuff, white button-down shirt. Very classy and drop dead sexy.

Fit is number one on your list when it comes to buying lingerie you love, If you're bulging out in the wrong spots or you're not making the most of your God-given assets, then you need to reassess what's right for you. After all, lingerie is all about feeling good and looking sexy. The basics of great-fitting lingerie are simple:
-Choosing pieces that complement your body type and height
-Selecting lingerie that complements your breast shape and size
-Establishing your bra size, ideally with professional help
-Consider panty style
-Picking panties that complement your derriere

Women come in all shapes and sizes. It's what makes us unique, special and eternally frustrated when we can't fit into the latest designer trend.

Here are some tips for you based on your body type:

Apple: Wear babydolls. They'll show off your nice legs and small booty. The best-fitting lingerie for you, Apple, tends to accentuate your ample bosom and slim legs while discreetly covering your tummy.
Pear: Wear an A-line chemise or gown that hits below the booty to create sleek lines. Pair a sheer camisole or bra with a boyshort. It will highlight your upper assets while providing coverage for your curvaceous caboose.
Hourglass: Show off your curves by wearing bra and panty sets and body-hugging teddies or chemises.
Sporty: Wear a two-piece set, such as cropped camisole with a thong, in dark or contrasting colors, to give you the illusion of curves.

This is my fare thee well....

This will be my final post to the Bellefleur Lingerie Blog, because this is my final hour here at the store. It is pretty emotional and so devastating to say that I will no longer be at Bellefleur. In progression with my education I have had to make some hard decisions and now will be going to Neiman Marcus. My time at Bellefleur is something I will never forget. I learned so much from Jennifer and the other girls I got to work with as well as all of my lovely customers. I am so thankful for you letting me educate and help you all with such an intimate detail as lingerie and trusting me to do so. So I will not be moving on to "greener pasture" (as Jennifer put) but just a larger one. But who knows you may see me around again if Jennifer decides to open another location someday [hint, hint, nudge, nudge] ;) So again I would like to say thank you to everyone. This was an experience of a lifetime and I will cherish it forever!

Those of you who have been in the shop in the last couple years have probably met Christina, Bellefleur's ever present, ultra-hip store manager. Christina is moving on to greener pastures, snagging herself a big-kid job in Bellevue (read: full time). I wish her nothing but the best, but am already missing her terribly. Please stop by and wish her good bye and good luck in her new ventures; including graduating from the Art Institute next spring.

Presenting Bellefleur Lingerie's Blog

I am thrilled to launch Bellefleur Lingerie’s beautiful blog; a forum in which you will be the first to discover our new brands, find updates about shop happenings, and receive entertaining and educational tips and tricks about how to look and feel fabulous in your lingerie.

Allow me to introduce Bellefleur’s staff. I am Jennifer, the owner and creator of Bellefleur. My passion for lingerie and all things pretty has led me to cultivate a shop of well-made and easily priced brands and fashions from here and abroad. My underwear-lust has inspired me to write a book, with my co-author and friend Kathy Schultz, which will be in-shop and nationwide this fall. (Much more to come on that!)

Christina is our manager, extraordinaire. A current Fashion Marketing student at the Art Institute, Christina has been with Bellefleur over a year. She is the one who suggests that your current underpinnings might fit incorrectly, only to gently guide you in to our dressing room for a new and liberating bra size. Oftentimes, she can guess what will work just at first glance! Christina is responsible for our sassy newsletters you receive every month and will be a regular contributor to the blog.

Lindsey is a new and welcome addition to our boutique. She is a talented interior designer with a long-standing appreciation for lingerie.
